Even the Popcorn Vender Can Tell What She’s Thinking

the tigers at the zoo
are trying to communicate
with me, the biggest male is making words
with footprints

pacing, pacing, pacing

and I can’t figure them out, spend hours
watching as they grow
frustrated, exhausted, pass out on rocks
and fall asleep, ear tips flicking away
invisible flies

still misunderstood

Discipline

the camera changes everything
if you want to see flowers
the tombstones fade away

it can be considered a
discipline
photography or murder
both change
with perspective

if the camera wants to see corpses
the ground falls away
if it wants to see angels
it will find them

chalk lines around the bodies
smudge from novice footprints
trashy newspaper stills
or gallery shots
you decide
